You might want to avoid Expert unless you can tolerate getting randomly oneshot to death during long 15+ minute fights (which is actually really frustrating). The game was designed more for storytelling than as an actual RPG, so the game is a bit on the easy side, but as long as you set it to at least Hard, it'll feel like a decent challenge. I'm not sure why the first game of the series wasn't ported to PC, but this game doesn't follow it so don't worry about continuity. Aside from the game running buttery smooth, the gameplay feels like a Tales game and the story is told and animated like a Ghibli movie.
